Default Monk + Rezzing = ?

I have a question for all u experienced monks out there (i just got my first monk to lvl 20 even though ive had game since release ), are monks meant to resurrect party members? Every time I get in a PUG (and thats probably why...) I always get yelled at for not having a res with me. Is this a normal thing that uninformed players do or is it something i should change? Thanks for all input.

monks, being one of two classes with a repeatable rez, should always have one, and really almost every one should atleast have a signet. I guess if you were so good at monking that none of your teammates ever died, that would be different

Think of it like this. When a party members falls in battle do you really think a monk should stop everything for a few seconds and rez the fallen member?

Midliners should carry a rez, monks should not have any type of rez skill on their bars.

In PvE it doesn't matter. Some people like to, some people feel it isn't necessary. Maybe if you're in a mission, but just doing quests or dungeons, who cares, resurrection shrine = unlimited tries that just one little skill won't make a difference of.

In PvP, monks don't usually bring a rez, because that's when the one skill can really matter, and the time spent resurrecting another party member can't be wasted. Maybe the exception is RA, but that's a huge joke as it is.

This is all the explanation you should need. Monks should not carry a res other than the occasional res scroll.

I try to carry a hard res whenever I can but if it just doesn't fit in my bar I leave it out because I expect at least half of the team to bring a res signet and I try to go about monking in a way that no ressing is needed. Rebirth is decent I guess, I usually see lots of other classes bring it too so if I don't have to use mine, all the better but I don't generally expect other teammates to bring anything but a signet. Monk ressing is mostly for after battle so that others don't have to waste their signets imo.

Never res in battle unless there is a really good gap to do so and it will not suck up your energy pool.

...but this is if you have to PuG hehe. I second the in PvE you could raise minions if you wanted to and still get through.

If you are a new monk you probably arent that great at kiting (no offence). so you most likely aren't going to be the last one alive. so you probably dont need one.

on the other hand a good hyrid build only really needs about 6 skill slots so you do have room for it.

your call. I would take out with PuGs, they die alot. H/H are much better at the game so you wont need to rez them very much.

I never carry a res on my monk, but I never pug as well, I assume that if I was pugging I would carry res because you cant trust any pug.
Generaly imo.. monks shouldnt carry res but if you pug a lot.. maybe you should.

QFT, only with the addition that if you are good enough, and use good hero synergy, you shouldn't need a rez at all

^That.

But since you're pug'ing and there's no guarantee that anyone in your group has a decent bar that works with yours or that they won't overextend, you should bring your own hard rez.

...which turn out to be all either touch or half range, which makes the combination not only worthless, but harmfully so. If you are using touch or half range skills mid battle, you fail at monking. If you are using them after battle, there is -no- reason for HB in the first place.

IMO, front liners shouldn't bring rez unless they have an empty spot, and then, it should be a rez signet. Mid-liners should bring a rez at all times. Monks, well it depends.

If you're PuGing, bringing a rez to use after battle, or Unyeilding Aura, would be wise.

If you're Hero/Henching, just slap one on each mid/back liners you have, including the monk, seeing how the henchmen hardly ever have a rez *front-liners have a signet usually, and monks/ritualists bring one*.

In PvP, monks should never bring a rez, everyone else should bring a rez signet.

So really, if the monks bring a rez or not, is up to personal opinion and the situation.

monks = no rez

how are you going to heal people when u have to cast a 4-6 sec spell :P

its the non-monks job to rez so u can keep healing, the out of combat idea is dumb imo, just have to non-monks take rezes and rez in combat. If your the last 1 standing and you dont have a rez, it means you group was being bad.

Bring a res scroll if you really need that res on monk.

Should a Monk bring a res ? well in gw and in pve yes.
Also for general pugging where mistakes are likely other players should have some backup res skills.
Do a 2 hour mission or dungeon and screw up once or even twice you have a chance of recovery if the surviving players have res skills.

Not for any logical reason but for reasons of history and the fact that most similar games put labels on characters, and the monk label is to heal and resurrect the fallen.

Just as all rangers interrupt and all warriors are paladin style wammos etc etc.
There is little or no room for diversion from the norm in the minds of many players.
This is often because gw has become fine tuned build wise and its a fact that some classes are perfect for their role and trying anything different or dare I say it Fun is seen as an abberation.

Want to play a non ressing Monk then play an Ele/Monk take a few aoe fire spells to keep the pug happy then all your fave monk skills.
You have loads of energy spare and no one blames you when it all hits the fan.

In PvE it's ok to carry hardres on a Monk, in PvP it's epic fail if you're wasting you healer's slot to hold it, about 98% of PvP builds don't utilize that.
